Prayoga is a small sensor kit that plugs into the teacher’s phone. It turns 62 textbook experiments for Classes 6 to 10 into live measurements and graphs, without a lab room.

The problem
Science is learned by measuring. Yet across India and in Karnataka, a large share of secondary schools have no integrated science lab, and practicals carry only a small part of the marks.
42.8%
UDISE+ 2025–26 (Table 7.23), via Education for All in India. UDISE+ records whether a lab exists, not whether it works, so the real gap is likely larger.

Our solution
The phone already has a screen, a processor, a camera and motion, sound and magnetic sensors. Prayoga adds only what a phone lacks. Tap a part to see what it measures.
₹1,750–3,290
Board, voltage/current sensor, temperature probe, light sensor, pressure sensor, buzzer, circuit parts.
₹3,460–6,520
Adds pH and conductivity probes, clip-on microscope lens, coil and magnet, solar cell, grating film, IR sensors.
₹1,800–3,800 / school
USB digital microscope and prepared slides, shared by all kits in a school.
The phone powers the kit through one OTG cable. Nothing to charge.
A power bank runs the kit and charges the phone; readings travel by Bluetooth.
Kannada and English, every worksheet, live graphs, saved readings, teacher mode.
Prices are estimates of single-unit prices for the prototype; bulk production will lower them.
How a lesson works
Students write what they expect and sketch the graph before touching the kit.
One reading with a thermometer, multimeter or scale: the instrument skill the exam tests.
The kit measures and the app draws the live graph. Students plot by hand first, then compare.
They compare the result with their prediction and answer exam-style questions.

Coverage
Every Prayoga experiment is tied to a chapter of the Karnataka textbook, including chapters where students today only read.
| Class | Subject | Chapters | Board practicals | Prayoga experiments | What’s new with Prayoga |
|---|
Board practicals: the NCERT/CBSE prescribed list for the same chapters, used as the reference for Karnataka. Class 9 chapter counts to be confirmed against the Karnataka textbook.
Costing
Set the number of schools and kits to see the cost. Figures use the middle of our estimated price ranges.
Total cost
The phone is the teacher’s or the school’s own; the kit has no battery to replace. For comparison, a single Atal Tinkering Lab grant is up to ₹20 lakh.
Planned split; most of the money goes into research and development.
Worksheets
One double-sided sheet per experiment, with a picture of the setup and every instrument, hand readings, live readings, exam-style questions and a teacher answer key.
The prototype
A real recording of the prototype in a Karnataka classroom will be added here after school testing.
Roadmap
Done
Working prototype; 62 worksheets with setup pictures and answer keys; component list and costs.
